Flawless Thoughts

I've heard a lot of "the Jets get no respect" since their huge win over division rival New England on Sunday. It's true they do get no respect when going up against a team that destroyed them in the regular season. It will be interesting to see whether they get their "respect" this week when they play a team that they dismantled in the regular season.

During the most exciting time in football it's unfortunate that a lockout is in the headlines. The owners say that the CBA needs to be renegotiated, citing reasons including the cost of new stadiums. Now I haven't been to New Meadowlands, but I've seen footage, and heard plenty of reports basically stating that it is "a lesson on how to waste a billion dollars". Giants Stadium was fine, and according to reports could have been used for "30 more years". Seems strange that everyone else has to pay for the stadiums(fans, citizens, players association) especially when they look like an air conditioner. The thing that is mind boggling to me is how a lot of fans seem to think that the players "make too much money". Since when do we decide the salaries of jobs that aren't government positions? And why then are we restricting our judgement to pro athletes? Why not the salaries at other huge corporations, like google, facebook, The UPS store, Sony, and why not the salaries of the people in NFL management positions? Also, I've NEVER heard a fan complain about a head coach's salary, what's up with that? They make more than most players do.

Yesterday ESPN reported that Bret Favre had filed his retirement papers. Yes that's what I said yesterday ESPN reported that Bret Favre had filed his retirement papers. Can at least some of the annoying Bret Favre retirement saga be blamed on the media? Try most of it. What would really be annoying about it if it wasn't being reported on EVERY DAY! Why isn't ESPN held accountable? Only Favre and his "ego" get the blame.

  1. Gotta agree with Matthew on this one... The Jets played a hell of a game vs. Pitt earlier this year, but didn't take the lead until the 4th quarter. Not sure if you can consider that a dismantling
