"We are not having fun"

I however, am ECSTATIC!! After all the hoopla surrounding the off season acquisitions of Bosh and James, and the resigning of Wade, just about every person on the planet had all but anointed the Heat champions of 2011 and beyond. The next dynasty. They'll win 70 games for sure.

We are now just about 2 months into the season and after a loss the the Mavs last night the Heat are a mere one, yes ONE game over .500 at 9-8. If they keep up this pace for the rest of the season they'll struggle to win 41 which I find absolutely amazing, as well as immensely gratifying. They are not playing as a team, but yet 3 individual stars. Unless they can learn to play together, and fast, I'm not sure if they are going to be able to turn this thing around.

As a Knick fan, I love to see the Heat struggle; period! But add in the hype, and the "talent", and the predictions, and the praise, and the mastermind, and the FAILURE, and I'm one happy ass camper!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving = Family + Food + Football, but if there is one thing that I'll always be missing it's John Madden commentating the game and providing Thanksgiving food to the players. And who could ever forget Turducken?!

Lock It Up

My lock of the week is Cleveland over Carolina. The Panthers have three weak quarterbacks to choose from, as well as two hurt running backs or an unproven one. The Browns have surprisingly found both a quarterback and a running back that they can rely on and that stability should be enough to get past the lowly Panthers.

Stay away from the Cowboys vs Saints matchup. It's on Thanksgiving day so you never know who is more prepared, and the Cowboys seem to have a spark with their new coach. The Saints really should win the game and they probably will.

It's a Beutiful Thing

If you drafted Kolb in the third round in your fantasy football leauge and someone picked Vick up off of waivers, at least this will make you smile -

Lock It Up

My lock of the week is New England over Indianapolis. Tom Brady is pumped up, and that loss to the Browns seems to have ignited a fire in him and the rest of the team. At the same time, injuries have been beyond nagging to the Colts and I just can't see them winning at Gillete Stadium.

Stay away from the Eagles vs Giants, everyone wants to crown Mike Vick as the MVP, but the Giants will be mad this week and looking to make up for last weeks terrible performance.

Flawless Thoughts

I don't know if anyone has noticed, but the Jets have not sold all of their seats at the new stadium this year. The funny thing is, the slogan they're using is from a Seinfeld episode where an old man is doing weight training with Jerry Seinfeld and his catchphrase is - "It's go time". Every time I hear it or read it in a Jets advertisement, I think of an old man who tried to lift too much and injured his back(like in the episode), kind of like the Jets situation with the extra seats.

The Giants looked horrible against the Cowboys last week. They couldn't even keep the lights on at Giants Stadium! This seems like the same character that the Giants have had for ten years - four weeks in a row they look like the best team in the league and then they're out of gas. Maybe that's a good thing since they've been to two Super Bowls in that ten years!

The Atlantic Division of the NHL is a little like the NFC East in the NFL, you know at least two of the teams are going to be in the playoffs if not three. Surprisingly though the Devils are not looking like one of them, even with the controversial signing of Kovalchuk. For a team that is trigger-happy with firing coaches, it won't be long if they keep losing.

As I was watching Monday Night Football this week, I enjoyed the absence of Tony Kornheiser and Dennis Miller so much. It turns out that Gruden is good at this, but will he leave for coaching? No commentating is worse than Joe Buck's. He says the most annoying things, and his partner isn't much better.

Perhaps nothing is worse than no commentating at all though, this happens for a lot of sports fans every Thursday night beginning in week 10 of the NFL season. It's not at all surprising that the owner of the Knicks and Rangers is involved as those teams have been holding back on their fans just as much as Cablevision has been holding back Thursday Night Football. This is exactly the type of thing that creates pirates, if that's what we call them. People who will be stopped at nothing to get what they want, even if that means illegally downloading/streaming(or stealing, for folks older than twenty-five). Yes now with the new social networking styled public streaming websites like justin.tv, you can find mostly any live televised event and watch it for free. Lately live televised sporting events have been used as battle grounds for networks and cable companies waiting to see who will crack first, but as they always do - people have found a way.

No more talk about Kobe not being a Top 5 all time player!

Lock It Up

My lock of the week is easily the Giants over the Cowboys. Star quarterback - stomped out, Puppet Head Coach - stomped out, hopes of playing at home in the Super Bowl - stomped out, effort on Sunday against arguably the best team in the NFL - weak.

Stay away from Vikings vs Bears. The Bears have been a sketchy team although they have somehow won games, while the Viking have been underachieving while having more talent than Chicago. And Brad Childress you are not Batman so stop talking like that.

Flawless Thoughts

The South Beach Talents have gotten their acts together after that embarrassing opener against the Celtics. Good, I'm glad, I think it's good for basketball, the Miami vs Boston season opener was the second highest rated opener to Jordan vs Magic Johnson after they had taken time off from the game. That's pretty wild, it's been a while since basketball seemed so relevant, at least to me. When I think of the glory days of basketball, I think of powerhouse teams with huge stars, Jordan, Magic, Bird, Malone, Stockton, Ewing, Drexler, Barkley. Now the NBA is seemingly shaping up to be like that again. There is one thing that doesn't make sense to me, why is everyone hating on Lebron? I mean if you really hated "The Decision" special on ESPN so much, then why not be mad at ESPN. They certainly could have just aired the interview straight up without all the commentary, commercials and speculation. Plus, I know if I lived in Cleveland and a better job opportunity arose for me in Miami, I'd be on the next plane, have you ever been to Cleveland?

Randy Moss is reminding me of the Tea Bagger political party. I don't understand why he's not happy, and I don't think he does either. At the same time he is very relevant in the NFL even though he's dysfunctional. It will be interesting to see how he behaves in Tennessee.

Baseball is finally over. Wow and it's only November. According to Nielsen ratings, this World Series was the second least watched in three decades! The least watched in three decades was the Philly vs Tampa Bay series that was full of rainy wet weather. That is pretty sobering. I mean you've got huge stars like Lincecum, Lee, Bad Vlad, comeback stories like Hamilton's and still you can't beat Glee?

Moss This Moss That

There are many things to love about sports. Athletes these days often become characters and watching these characters go through different things - wins, losses, controversial press talks, and scandals have become some of the many things that I love. There is a new thing in sports now though that adds to that list of enjoyable entertainment and that is the DJ Steve Porter remix. And here is his latest -
