Flawless Thoughts

I don't know if anyone has noticed, but the Jets have not sold all of their seats at the new stadium this year. The funny thing is, the slogan they're using is from a Seinfeld episode where an old man is doing weight training with Jerry Seinfeld and his catchphrase is - "It's go time". Every time I hear it or read it in a Jets advertisement, I think of an old man who tried to lift too much and injured his back(like in the episode), kind of like the Jets situation with the extra seats.

The Giants looked horrible against the Cowboys last week. They couldn't even keep the lights on at Giants Stadium! This seems like the same character that the Giants have had for ten years - four weeks in a row they look like the best team in the league and then they're out of gas. Maybe that's a good thing since they've been to two Super Bowls in that ten years!

The Atlantic Division of the NHL is a little like the NFC East in the NFL, you know at least two of the teams are going to be in the playoffs if not three. Surprisingly though the Devils are not looking like one of them, even with the controversial signing of Kovalchuk. For a team that is trigger-happy with firing coaches, it won't be long if they keep losing.

As I was watching Monday Night Football this week, I enjoyed the absence of Tony Kornheiser and Dennis Miller so much. It turns out that Gruden is good at this, but will he leave for coaching? No commentating is worse than Joe Buck's. He says the most annoying things, and his partner isn't much better.

Perhaps nothing is worse than no commentating at all though, this happens for a lot of sports fans every Thursday night beginning in week 10 of the NFL season. It's not at all surprising that the owner of the Knicks and Rangers is involved as those teams have been holding back on their fans just as much as Cablevision has been holding back Thursday Night Football. This is exactly the type of thing that creates pirates, if that's what we call them. People who will be stopped at nothing to get what they want, even if that means illegally downloading/streaming(or stealing, for folks older than twenty-five). Yes now with the new social networking styled public streaming websites like justin.tv, you can find mostly any live televised event and watch it for free. Lately live televised sporting events have been used as battle grounds for networks and cable companies waiting to see who will crack first, but as they always do - people have found a way.
